Dr. Winley

A mental health advocate & blogger 

Dr. Dara Winley, an east coast native, is a licensed marriage and family therapist, writer, teacher, consultant and AAMFT Approved Supervisor. She was trained at multiple institutes including University of Maryland, College Park, Drexel University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University’s Family Institute. After her fellowship, she was promoted as the Clinic Director of The Family Institute which inspired her current role of training the next generation of therapists. Dr. Winley is currently Core Faculty and Assistant Professor at Adler University’s Couple and Family Therapy Department. She primarily teaches graduate students family therapy courses including theories, couples therapy, clinical supervision practicum and various electives. She also offers services to consult with different industries on how to prioritize emotional well-being on their staff and teams.

With 11 years of experience in clinical practice and education, her private practice incorporates an attachment-based orientation while working from multiple systemic treatment approaches amongst her diverse caseload. Dr. Winley works with a range of presenting issues including depression, anxiety, fear, grief/loss and unresolved trauma including racial trauma and intergenerational relationship distress. Families dealing with adjustment issues and trauma are welcome to schedule an appointment (add hyperlink). She specializes in conflict management and helps clients achieve healthy functioning and emotional safety in couple relationships and friendships. Currently, Dr. Winley is accepting new clients at her practice in Chicago, IL. She is a lover of Jesus, building community and new connections as she travels the world.
